Several people have been killed or seriously injured in the past year on Palisades Drive. Many in the comminity are calling out for increased speed and safety inforcement for this busy throroughfare. Per a recent meeting, Capt. Nancy Lauer, head of West Traffic says you can count on more police presence on the hill giving out tickets with no warnings. Training on how to use radar devices will be made available to volunteer residents. This information that they gather will be turned over to the police. There will be more Digital Speed Feedback signs put on the hill as well. A cement barrier in the middle of the road would mean losing a lane and a cost of $1,000,000 (includes lighting the hill). A light and camera would cost $125,000. What are your thoughts?

they have to do something. SO many people have died. Where is the city help when you need it. the city should pay for a new light and camera midway up the hill. the Palisades generates ALOT of property taxes. That is the least they can do.
Palisades Drive is and will continue to be a major hazard until action is taken to ensure that cars slow down. What are parents doing to inform, educate, and monitor their teen age children? What a waste.

How about the people that speed ACTUALLY take responsibility for their actions. If you don't want to die in a speed realated accident... "DON"T SPEED"!!! It is as simple as that!!!!
How very sad for this community to lose this young man, so full of life. Love and prayers to his family and friends.
My comment is in Honor of my best friend (since age 6)whom I lost to Palisades Drive when she and I were just 22 years old. I am now 47This occured 25 YEARS AGO. However, it continues to effect me as well as her family and other friends. As each of the fatalities since, have occured, I have wondered why it has had to be. Human Life is so precious. My question is, why is it not being taken seriously enough to do what needs to be done not only by traffic enforcement but also drivers themselves. I pray each time my 18 year old son drives up Palisades Drive to see a friend. I wish that I could forbid him to do so. Thanks for reading this. Much love to the families and friends of the others who have passed. My heart truly goes out to you.
I lived in the highlands for many years. I traffic light and/or camera will NOT work. What needs to happen is parents need to educate their children. If parents think a light will teach the kids, they are wrong. Here is a novel idea. Stop getting teenager brand new, fast cars.
As far as the adult speeders... again, very simple..SLOW DOWN and set an example for the younger drivers
